A typography experiment pushing the limits of legibility while maintaining communication.
Project visualization
Liminal is a typographic experiment that explores the edge of legibility. By systematically deconstructing letterforms while maintaining just enough information for recognition, the project investigates the minimum requirements for communication. The resulting typeface exists at the threshold between meaning and abstraction, challenging viewers to question how we extract significance from visual forms and what happens when familiar patterns break down.
The project emerged from a critical examination of how boundaries shape our understanding of technology and its role in society. By deliberately exploring edge cases and liminal spaces, we can reveal hidden assumptions and open up new possibilities for design and interaction.
The development process involved extensive research, prototyping, and testing at the boundaries of conventional practice. Through iterative experimentation, the project evolved from theoretical concept to realized form, maintaining a focus on the threshold between familiarity and innovation.
By challenging established patterns and expectations, the project creates moments of reflection and reconsideration. It invites viewers/users to question their relationship with technology and consider alternative possibilities beyond conventional boundaries.
